The Studio

The work of Vanessa Weingarten.

A practice built on restraint, material literacy, and a stubborn belief that an interior should reveal more on the hundredth visit than it did on the first.

A designer of considered places.

Vanessa Weingarten founded the studio after more than a decade of work across the most demanding corners of the design world — high-end single-family homes, ground-up retail flagships, full-service restaurants, and short-cycle renovations where every choice has to read at sale.

That range is intentional. The discipline of designing a restaurant — where light, acoustics, and circulation are the difference between a great evening and a forgettable one — sharpens the residential work. The cost discipline of a renovation makes the custom millwork on a $25M estate more deliberate. Each typology teaches the others.

The studio takes on a small number of projects each year and stays close to each from first walk-through through final install — choosing the artwork, sourcing the rugs, drawing the millwork, attending the lighting commissioning.

Approach.

Every project is different — but the studio's process is consistent. Long conversations at the start. Slow material decisions. A close, small team. And work that is meant to age rather than expire.

I.

Begin with the architecture

Every interior starts with the room as it is — its proportion, its light, the way it asks to be moved through. Furniture comes later.

II.

Material before decoration

Stone, plaster, timber, and textile are chosen first and committed to early — they set the tone every later choice answers to.

III.

Edit relentlessly

The most considered rooms are not the most full. The studio removes more than it adds in the last 20% of every project.

IV.

Design for the long view

A residence should outlast trend. A restaurant should still feel current ten years in. Everything is built for endurance.

Range & experience.

Studio Weingarten works across four primary categories. Each demands a different cadence and different collaborators — but the studio's care for material, proportion, and atmosphere does not change.

01 High-end single-family homes — primary residences for families, founders, and collectors Residential
02 Retail flagships, boutiques, and brand concept stores Retail
03 Full-service restaurants, bars, and hospitality projects Hospitality
04 High-end short-term residential renovations & flips Renovation

Services

From first conversation to final install.

The studio offers full-service interior design — programming and concept, architectural collaboration, finishes and materials, custom furniture and millwork, lighting design, art and accessory, and project install. Engagements typically begin twelve to eighteen months ahead of opening or move-in.

For renovations and flips, the studio operates on tighter cycles with a defined scope and budget — favoring high-impact material moves that read at photograph, on listing, and in person.
